Consumer Council

Consumer Council meetings are held every four to six weeks on weekday afternoons. The Council participants are consumers and staff from the seven social clubs in our region. The clubs are located in New Haven, Branford, Chester, Middletown, Ansonia , Milford and Meriden. Transportation to meetings is provided by the visiting social clubs. The social clubs alternate hosting a meeting on a voluntary basis. Light refreshments are provided by the host club. Meetings may also take place at the Regional Mental Health Board office on the grounds of Connecticut Valley Hospital. The meetings are facilitated by the Regional Consumer Liaison. Guest speakers are featured for educational purposes on relevant topics.

The purpose of the Consumer Council is four-fold:

  • to foster communication with the Regional Mental Health Board about consumer issues and concerns via the Consumer Liaison who attends the monthly board meetings;
  • to provide information and education on legislative issues and other relevant matters;
  • to share programmatic information and foster more communication among the clubhouses;
  • for consumers to share information, as desired, about personal milestones in their recovery, providing mutual support, or to raise any other matters of concern.

If you would like more information on the Consumer Council, contact Chantal DeArmitt, Consumer Liaison at 860-262-5051 or
